Join UK artist Nicki as she walks us through her world, pushing the limits of how we see through the lens of an iPhone collecting marks, patterns, textures, colours, shapes, lines shapes and typography that will later become the characters in her painterly collage pieces. Often abstract, expressing sound, emotion and experience, all of Nicki’s images are shot and edited on the iPhone and iPad. As an image maker she likes to play with perceptions, adores ambiguity, and engaging the viewer – often leaving spaces for the viewer to complete the story.
Nicki’s world is seen in layers, where lines, forms and textures are isolated from the real world, colliding and merging in a new imagined worlds where, guided by her intuition, the image is allowed to unfold as each new element is placed. An open mind and playfulness is key to Nicki’s approach to her mobile art. As well as sharing her approach to creating personal and meaningful, expressive collages using apps like Leonardo and Snapseed, Nicki gives us a glimpse into her fascination with painting with light on the iPhone, treading the fine line between photography and painting and will be demonstrating her experimental techniques with the app Slow Shutter Cam to create impressionistic works of art.
